About Wilderness Explorer
Wilderness Explorer is an outsourced hospitality management company focusing on marketing, sales, and reservations in the ecotourism sector.
Wilderness Explorer is obsessed with experiential travel in South Africa, and is fanatical about promoting ecotourism to the travel market. (see what we do)
Wilderness Explorer is managed and contributed to by people with extensive experience in all aspects of the ecotourism sector. This experience has been gleaned through many years of work. Here are some of our highlights;
Guiding in the Sabi Sand Wildtuin, and specifically at Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve.
Management of Thornybush Game Reserve, during expansion of the collection of lodges under management including a property in the Sabi Sand Wildtuin.
The establishment and management of a hospitality management company, An African Anthology represented a variety of tourism establishments.
The development and management of game lodges, specifically Ivory Tree Game Lodge, amongst others where our involvement was on a consultation basis as in the case of Kapama River Lodge, Kapama Southern Camp, and Kapama Karula.
The rescue of ecotourism businesses, and in the case of Shepherds Tree Game Lodge, an ambitious turnaround strategy was conceptualized and implemented by ourselves, which reversed the fortunes of the lodge.
And the journey continues in the form of Wilderness Explorer, where our focus is exclusively in the sector of ecotourism.
Wilderness Explorer represents South African experiences which make travel far easier, safer, and more affordable than it was for David Livingstone many years ago. We aim to provide travelers from within South Africa and from all corners of the globe, with the opportunity to live the touches, sights, smells, tastes, and sounds of Africa.
We recognize that South Africa remains a relatively difficult destination to visit, and that; tour operators, travel agents, and any other travel intermediary, are crucial to the ongoing growth of visitor numbers.
Travel professionals require quality content in order to support their efforts inpromoting South Africa and, whilst many have the resources to create their own content, many do not. These are, particularly, the folk that rely on the supply of material from. You may well be thinking; ‘I have paid for my establishment to be advertised in a tour operator brochure, or on their website, so I’ll sit back and wait for the bookings to come flooding in’. And if you are, you may well be making a big mistake and, to see how simply page through brochures and, you are likely to notice several other similar establishments, who may well have done the same as you.
In our view, the insertion of an advert is not where your work stops, and it is imperative that we create and maintain a strategy, which delivers information and content to travel market. But this alone is still not enough to get our establishments to rise through the piles of; high resolution images, fact sheets, brochures, rate cards, newsletters, blogs etc. that mount on the desks of busy agents. We can assist the travel market in selling our establishments by exposing our product/s across the many available communication platforms.
We believe that is important to deliver information and content to the travel market using as many of the readily available tools as possible.
Wilderness Explorer is in the business of ecotourism, and we know this because we simply don’t do anything else.
